Travelling aboard the Hurtigruten between Bergen and Kirkenes gives a rare opportunity to truly discover something of the diverse and colourful traditions of these remote communities, all set against the breathtaking backdrop of Norway’s coastal landscapes.
These three voyages concentrate on the music and folklore of the region, as well as its diverse culinary fare, with a series of lectures and workshops that are designed to educate and entertain. In the company of guest lecturers and experts and a constantly changing ensemble of dancers, musicians and singers, you will be treated to a sensory feast of quite dazzling cultural diversity.
The folk music voyage includes an opportunity enjoy and take part in the traditional dancing, whilst on the gastronomy voyage the emphasis is on the rich and varied cuisine for which Norway is fast building an international reputation. The last of the three voyages explores the region’s national dress and includes a remarkable insight into Sami and Kven culture, as well as a chance to witness something of the colourful traditions of these fascinating peoples.
